3-5-2020 House Fire

Just after midnight volunteer firefighters were called out to a home in the 2000 block of Penfield Rd for the report of a smoke detector going off with smoke inside the home. The situation quickly unfolded as the first arriving fire chiefs found a fire in the living room that was spreading down to the basement. An Engine Company arrived shortly after deploying a hose line and rapidly knocking down the fire. This quick action kept the damage from the fire contained to the room of origin. RT 441 was closed for a short while as a water supply hose line was stretched across the road to a nearby hydrant. Firefighters were out for about an hour and fifty minutes on scene. Back at the station and after cleaning up the equipment members were returning to there homes about 2:30am-ish. Their were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The Fairport Fire Department also provided one Engine to the scene as the Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.)
