Fire on the exterior of the house 9/6/15

Sunday morning just after 6am Penfield Volunteers received an alarm for the report of a room on fire on Brauston Drive.  First arriving chiefs found a three seasons room with a fire on the exterior of the home.  Firefighters on the first arriving engine put out the remaining hot spots and there was extensive overhaul to be done but luckily most damage was contained to the outside of the home.
The fire was discovered by the homeowner when he woke up early in the morning.  The cause was accidental when a towel which caught on fire in the kitchen earlier that evening was thrown out the backyard which in turn set the mulch on fire which spread to the house overnight (it appears it took the fire the entire night to creep back to the structure).

This is the second close call for Penfield residents and volunteer firefighters as earlier this year in June almost same thing happened at the Mountain Lane apartments. In that case a blanket caught fire inside an apartment and was then taken outside to a balcony thought to be extinguished but hours later rekindled almost setting the structure on fire.
