Car Accident with a Person Trapped

Monday night volunteer firefighters were called out to the 2900 block of Atlantic Ave for a vehicle into a pole with a person trapped.  Firefighters found a Dodge Viper that hit a pole on the driver's door crushing the driver's compartment inwards trapping the driver.  Crews used the Hurst Tool (Jaws of Life) to pry the car apart to get the injured driver out.  Firefighters had to cut the roof off, take a door off, and lift the dash to gain access.  It took 20 minutes to free the driver from the vehicle.  The driver was loaded into the ambulance and taken to a local area hospital.
