Fatal Accident on Panorama Trail

Volunteers were just backing the tower truck into the station returning from another alarm when a call was dispatched at 9:44 for the report of an accident involving a pick up truck with a person trapped underneath on Panorama Trail. Quickly jumping from the tower truck to the rescue truck volunteers raced towards the scene. Firefighters and EMS workers were met with a challenging scene with an individual trapped under his truck. Using the Maverick Hurst Tool (Jaws of Life) and a Hi-Lift Rescue Jack volunteers worked as fast and as hard as they could to free the individual. Unfortunately the person succumbed to his injuries. The police are still investigating as to what exactly happened. Volunteers were out for over three hours while East Rochester Fire provided a fill-in engine company.
