Move Over Law goes into effect in NY.

In the US 49 states have adopted the Move Over Law now including New York.  The new law (named after to State Troopers killed in the line of duty) Ambrose- Searles Move Over Law  is aimed to reduce fatalities of emergency responders including firefighters, the police, and ambulance workers by requiring traffic that is approaching an emergency scene on a multiple lane highway (such as 441 and Browncroft Blvd) to reduce its speed by a minimum of 20 mph and move over as far and as safely away from the scene as possible. If you do not slow down and change lanes when approaching such scene, you can be issued a moving violation which carries 2 or 3 points and up to a $275 fine.  Please, for that safety of all emergency workers on the road slow down and move over.
