House Fire On Salt Rd

A fire that appears to have started in the basement lead to a heavily involved house fire on Salt Rd. this morning.
Firefighters were called out at 5:30AM to a vacant 2 story house that was on fire.  The house sat back from the road side with a single access driveway.  First arriving chiefs found heavy fire venting from the basement windows in the rear of the structure along with several holes had already burned through the 1st floor.  An exterior attack was made due to the holes in the floor and weakened state of the home as a load barring wall was severely damage between the kitchen and dinning room.  The fire was quickly knocked down as hose lines were aimed through the windows.
As the investigation phase began a firefighter fell through the floor of the kitchen into the basement.  The firefighter was quickly removed under his own power and checked out by the ambulance with some bumps and bruises.
Firefighters were out for about 3 hours at the fire and an additional hour cleaning up at the station.  The cause is still under investigation.
